Joanne Fetchko
Program Director

Ms. Fetchko has extensive experience in the field of dance as a choreographer, performer, and has taught dance for over 20 years. She has taught girls and boys, ages 3 to 18 years, at all levels throughout the Lower Mainland. She has been an instructor at Spotlight Dance Centre in Burnaby since 1988 and has adjudicated at dance festivals across Canada since 2002.

Ms. Fetchko is well known for her fun and entertaining choreography. Students particularly enjoy her Stage classes which are a variation of Musical Theatre without voice. Her students have been very successful in competition throughout B.C. including District Representatives at provincial finals.

Her dance experience includes:

  • Trained in Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Hawaiian, National Character and Acrobatics
  • Studied in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles and New York
  • Continues to attend yearly workshops

Ms. Fetchko also completed a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from BCIT. She strongly encourages a well-rounded education of academics plus a healthy balance of extra-curricular activities.

Ms. Fetchko is a Burnaby mother of three school-aged boys. She has volunteered at her children's school - Suncrest Elementary - to teach dance classes, help with music classes, and rehearse talent show participants. It is from this experience that Ms. Fetchko developed the concept of Dance In School and how a short term dance program could greatly enrich a school's fine arts and physical education programs.
